Be Prepared

I don't think I can stomach any more of the New Earth. I've been watching Youtube videos from Oprah and Eckart's web classes. It's sickening and sad.

So this is what I think:
I Peter 3:15
"But in your heart set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, "

A New Earth?

Photo of C.S. Lewis holding his head... imagine him shaking his head saying, "Oprah, Oprah, Oprah."

Well...
I have been trying to read the book A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose by Eckhart Tolle. Oprah is so taken by this author that she is teaching an internet class with him from her website. So... I thought I might read it just to educate myself incase the subject came up with friends. Truth is a lot of people respect Oprah ~ many of those people are so desperate to find a way to improve their life, they will try or believe just about anything.

I didn't get past the first sentence before I wanted to hurl.
"Earth, 114 million years ago, one morning, just after sunrise: The first flower ever to appear on the planet opens up to receive the rays of the sun. Prior to this momentous event that heralds an evolutionary transformation in the life of plants, the planet had already been covered in vegetation for millions of years. The first flower probably didn't survive for long, and flowers must have remained rare and isolated phenomena, since..." Do I need to go on?

The very next page he references Jesus. "Jesus tells us to contemplate the flowers and learn from them how to live." THEN ~ in the very next sentence he references the Buddha. Give be a break!!! This poor guy is truly confused. There are at least 20 cited Biblical references in this book.

My question for Oprah and Mr. Tolle: Is Jesus LIAR, LUNATIC, or LORD?
You cannot have a three way - (not a slam against Skyline of course)

C.S. Lewis said it best:
"I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: "I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept His claim to be God." That is the one thing we must not say. A man who said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic--on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg--or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to." CS Lewis ~ Mere Christianity

Now wouldn't it be interesting if Mere Christianity had the Oprah's Book Club sticker on it?

After Oz - Vancouver Film School (VFS)

We love the Wizard of Oz at our house. I found this cute video on Vancouver Film School's site. It's a fun site to look for cute animation. But I suggest you prescreen videos before sharing them with your kids.

I learned a new song yesterday...
Perhaps you have heard it?

Hot Blooded
Chicken and Cheese
Can't you see
The fever in me

Foreigner would be so proud!
This after the Barack Obama Baby Choir on the steps last week?
Confused?
Me too.

Does that make sense? yikes.

Glasses

Here she is ~ Our beautiful girl in her new glasses!
She was so excited to pick them up, she had butterflies in her tummy.
At her doctor's appointment last week it was so fun to watch as she tried on the glasses. She tried on a couple and smiled at the sight of herself. But, when she put on the glasses that she chose... her eyes lit up like magic! There was no doubt about which pair she liked best.

Easter

We made it!
This was a big weekend for us!
Saturday was our big Egg Hunt/Egg Drop at River Hills. It was so much fun! Over 5000 eggs came cascading from the upper level of our atrium to center in front of the waterfall below. What I had not anticipated was the frenzy of children rushing to the bottom of our tube. I guess the good news was that for kids... frenzy = excitement. It certainly was exciting! We are already dreaming up ideas to make it even more exciting next year. We are already cookin' up a secret idea to make it great fun for the little guys under 3 years old (thanks Jane :) It was so much fun to see families having a great time together!

Of course, Easter Sunday is busy too. It was a full house at River Kids and from what I understand the auditorium was packed too! My favorite time of the whole morning was singing with kids! They sang their hearts out ~ I love it when they all participate, especially the older boys who are usually too cool for such things. Every song we sang told of the story of Christ death and resurrection. Sometimes music is better than any lesson. I don't like to pressure children in taking communion until they understand it. So often kids like to do it for the novelty of it or because they think it is a snack. So... I set up a little table so that parents could take communion together. It is such a beautiful sight to see families taking communion together. It's very nice for our family. It such a crazy morning it's nice to stop after everyone leaves and remember why we are there in the first place.

After church!!!!
Ponchot family dinner. Yes! Mom fixed a delicious dinner for all of us. So nice to crash after such a busy morning. Extra nice for her to do that after having such a busy morning herself. We have the best mom! Speaking of moms... My daughter-in-laws tummy is growing beautifully! Malachi is going to be a big boy.
I hope everyone had as nice of an Easter as I did! Here are the tradition Easter door and step pictures of Hope and Micah.
